Is skin disease serious?

FastPaceHealth dermatology logo

Many skin diseases involve serious health risks. Simple skin conditions might point to an underlying comorbidity disease. Even if the condition is not life-threatening, it may reduce a person’s quality of life and/or limit productivity.

Other skin disease issues:

With skin conditions come issues of perception that deteriorate the quality of life causing loss of sleep, poor self-image, serious depression, and lost productivity. The Fast Pace team understands the interaction between the skin and the body and can provide a combative regimen to correct issues and clear many physical appearances related to conditions. If behavioral health issues form as a result of these conditions and you wish to consult with someone. Fast Pace Health also offers behavioral health consultations.

Available for scheduled in-person appointments Monday-Thursday from 8:00-5:00.

Frequently asked questions

An appointment is recommended, but we often can see patients as walk-ins too. Select a clinic above to schedule.
We recommend that you check your skin for mole changes  or new abnormalities on a regular basis. If you have a family history of skin cancer, have several moles on your skin, and/or spend a lot of time in the sun we recommend regular annual checkups with a Dermatology provider. If you see any changes in your moles, for example, if they are getting bigger, changing color, or developing an irregular border, it might be a sign of skin cancer and we recommend that you make an appointment with a dermatology provider. Also, if you notice new spots or sores that don’t heal, or if a mole starts itching, bleeding, or oozing, it’s important to make an appointment with a dermatology provider. Regular skin check-ups are one of the important tools that can help identify skin cancer risks. Contact us to schedule a visit for a skin chekc-up.
Cherry angiomas are small, red skin growths generally caused by the clustering of blood vessels. They are usually harmless, but if they change in size, shape, or color, it’s essential to consult a dermatology provider. Contact us to find out how these can be removed.
Psoriasis is an immune system-related condition that speeds up the skin cell growth process to cause skin lesions, especially on the elbows and knees. It is not contagious and often has a genetic component. While psoriasis can’t be cured, various treatments, including topical creams, phototherapy, and medications, may help manage symptoms and improve the condition.
Acne generally occurs when hair follicles get clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Changes in hormones can contribute to its development. Our providers can recommend treatments like topical creams or medications to help manage your acne.
Tinea pedis, commonly known as athlete’s foot, is a fungal infection that generally affects the toes and toenails. It often causes itching, redness, and scaling in between the toes. Unlike regular dry skin, it is caused by a fungus and requires antifungal treatment. Similarly, toenail fungus may cause nails to become thickened, discolored, and brittle. To help prevent either problem, keep your feet dry, change socks regularly, and avoid walking barefoot in public places. If you suspect you have these problems our providers can often assist with treatments in the form of creams, powders, or oral medications.
You can generally expect the effect of your BOTOX® treatment to last anywhere from 3 to 4 months. Additional planned services can be arranged and injections may be purchased in bulk.  Botox is a cosmetic treatment that uses a purified form of botulinum toxin that is commonly used to temporarily relax facial muscles. By reducing muscle activity, it may decrease the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Side effects of treatment are rare and generally mild and temporary if they do occur.
Dermal fillers are injectable substances that add volume to specific areas of the face, reducing wrinkles and enhancing facial contours. They are commonly used in areas like the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth. Speak to us if you have an interest in learning more about this.
Washing your face every day with a gentle cleanser, wearing sunscreen, eating a balanced diet, avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol, getting 8-10 hours of sleep every night, and minimizing stress can all help maintain skin health. If you have specific skin concerns or problems, don’t hesitate to see a dermatology provider. They can provide personalized advice and treatments for your skin type and issues.

What Our Patients Say
This is for the Dermatology portion of the clinic. Carla Trail is the ABSOLUTE BEST. She goes above and beyond for her patients 100% of the time. If she ever moved anywhere else in Tennessee in the future, I would still make the day trip to get my check up from her. She is that good. I have never met someone more thorough, kind, and knowledgeable as she is. I swear she has my medical info memorized which makes me feel very taken care of as a patient. Not only that, but you can tell she truly cares about you. If you’re on the fence coming here because it’s Fast Pace and you think it’s not a legit place to go for dermatology services, PLEASE reconsider. You will not regret it. Thank you for always taking good care of me Carla and team!
